MS Exchange SE 2025
Recently, I came to know that MS will next Exchange in Subscription Edition (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/discussions/exchange_general/exchange-server-subscription-edition-arrives-in-summer-2025/4133577). The MS exchange 2025 will be the update of 2016 and 2019 version and 2016 and 2019 support will be the end of 2025.
My query is new MS Exchange 2025 SE will be on-prem or cloud-based. If it is cloud-based, then the Active Director will be cloud-based, too.
Can anyone clarify me those things.

As you stated, Exchange SE is an in-place upgrade for Exchange Server 2019 (Be aware that you won't be able to do an in-place upgrade for Exchange Server 2016), so it is not cloud based. The licensing of the physical install of Exchange changes to a subscription service though.

Dear Dan
Thanks for the reply.
So, I have to update my exchange server 2016 to Exchange SE. If currently I have 100 user Cal license, I have purchased 100 user subscription. Rest will be same as pervious as all the database, mailbox configuration will be at my server room.

You need to migrate to 2019 CU15 to upgrade to SE. You cannot do the direct upgrade 2016. or Build a new SE environment and migrate it.
