Exchange Online block mail with PDF attachment using metadata.

Hi Guys,

I want to block specific PDF files that metadata contain specific data.

I have checked documentation but found only how to block file extenstion using ETR.

I don't want to block all mails with PDF attachments, only some that metadata will contain specific data.

Is there posibility to do that using EXO?

BR,

Zakon

  • Hi Zakon,
Exchange Transport Rules are kind of limited.
There is no other way of writing complex Message Filters to catch such Mails as you would like.
So the short answer is: no - you can't do that with Exchange Online.
    Kind Regards

Which tool should I use to create these filters? Is there any native MS solution that I can use?

        Hi Zakon,
The Question is what exactly are you trying to archieve?
You could use "Defender for Office Plan1/2" and use the SafeAttachments Functionality.
As i said, there is no native possibility in Exchange Online.
I know that some customers use Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) to write custom Filters. But that's not trivial.
