why does F4 cell lock not work in excel 2016 for windows 10
- Apr 02, 2018
Hi Felix,
The problem isn't in Excel, it's in the computer BIOS settings.
The function keys are not in function mode, but are in multimedia mode by default!
You can change this so that you don't have to press the combination of Fn+F4 each time you want to lock the cell.
To do that, open the BIOS settings on the computer startup, and then find the responsible option to change the function keys mode!

Hope that helps

My case is a bit different. I have a Dell Latitude 7400, I have "disengaged" the Function (fn) for the F keys, so they work independently, and all F keys work fine except for F4, which doesn't work... Haytham Amairah
