Trying to revve an old file

Hi I am involved in a Role Playing gaming community.

A part of this game involves a simulated pregnancy.

As a part of this  simulated pregnancy, there are body shape changes required in game.

I have some friends that Role Play doctors in this game and they expressed to me some concerns regarding calculating manually the details so as to be able to advise other players how they shoud modify their shape at different stages of the "pregnancy"

I have found an old file that appears to require certain values to be supplied in the ranges of start size and end size of various body parts.

The file appears to be designed to then it gives out the suggested  numbers to use for the various progressive stages.

It seems to me that that part of the file is not working correctly, but I don't know how to find out why its not.

The first value of that section is for "Torso muscles"... and on opening the file that is set with a start number  of 38 and an end  number (Target? I assume) of 45.

However in the output section below this the data is recommending a size of 69.

There are other body parts that seem to have some effect.

The upper section of the file does seem to work.

One enters some values regarding the start of the Pregnancy and the expected length for different species... and it outputs finishing dates in game time and Real World times.

It seems to me that it was started by someone, and not completed.

I'd like to be able to get it working as designed and give it to the community.

I wonder if anyone would care to look at the file and tell me if It is even possible to make it work correctly?
Thanks in advance.

Paul

  • Hi Paul,

There is indeed something wrong with the formula in cells C42:C86. If you simplify your file (see attached), you'll notice that all other body parts are calculated correctly, based on table E29:H35.

You should be able to correct this by a simple correction in the formula in cells C42:C86.

Thank you for your assistance with this tinnkeeper.

I can see the areas that you are talking about correcting the formula, but my knowledge of Excel is not at a standard yet for me to be able to see clearly what I need to do.
I'll keep looking and try to work it out.

You have certanly confirmed for me the area I need to look to find my solution.

      Thanks again for replying
