Transaction matching

Hi.

In a former job I used a function that would match off debit and credit transactions down a single column.  I recall that a function (or formula) was put in a cell to the right at the top along with the amount you wished to match transactions with.

When you ran this function it would run through sometimes thousands of combinations until it found the transactions that added up to the chosen sum and place a 1 to the side of each transaction.

I cannot recall what it was called or where I first obtained it but in my new job this would be a very useful tool.

Can anyone assist please?
