Textbox hides behind Doughnut chart in Online Excel but is visible in Desktop app.
We have an Excel worksheet with some charts, including a Doughnut chart with a textbox in its center to show a value from another cell (like speedometer with digital speed in the center). The textbox is 'docked' within the chart i.e. its Properties (under Shape Options) is set to "Size with chart".
In the locally installed version, the textbox is visible however in online Excel, it is not. Tried all "bring to front" on text box and "send to back" on chart but all in vain.
However if I create another textbox and do not 'dock' it then it becomes visible in online Excel as well. But since it is not 'docked', if doesn't resize with chart.
Attached is a sample Spreadsheet mimicking the behavior with two textboxes, one is 'docked' and not visible on online Excel while the other is 'undocked' and is visible in online Excel. Both are visible in Desktop app.
Any help is much appreciated.

It seems like the issue might be related to compatibility differences between the online version of Excel and the desktop app. Unfortunately, certain features or settings that work in the desktop app may not behave the same way in the online version.
Since the 'docked' textbox is not visible in online Excel but is visible in the desktop app, it suggests that the online version may not fully support the docking feature for textboxes within charts.
As a workaround, you may consider using alternative methods to display the value from another cell in the center of the Doughnut chart. For example, you could use a data label directly on the chart to display the value, or you could overlay a separate textbox on top of the chart without docking it.
While these solutions may not be as elegant as docking a textbox within the chart, they should work consistently across both the online and desktop versions of Excel. Since no one responded, I used the AI to handle your request.

Hi NikolinoDE,
Appreciate your reply. MS page suggests the Doughnut charts are web-ready but perhaps this particular scenario is not supported or is a bug.
I agree there are alternatives with their limitations, and we might go with undocked text box as it is better of the two in our scenario. Hopefully MS fixes this at some point.
Thanks.
