Search for duplicates & sum
HI! I have exhausted my tech searches and am hoping someone can help me with this one. I have to add the minutes each employee spent in class for CPE certification. My spreadsheet shows each person's name, the class attended, and the number of minutes in each class. This means I have duplicate employee entries and I need to add their classtime quickly. Is there a formula I can apply to the worksheet to handle this for me?
Can I have the system search for duplicate names & add together everything under the time column for me?
Ex: Smith, John - Tax 101 - 42 minutes
Smith, John - Tax Prep - 57 minutes
Jones, Bill - Audit 101 - 32 minutes
Thanks in advance for any advice.
I'd create a pivot table based on the data.
Add the name field/column to the Rows area and the time field/column to the Values area.

HansVogelaar Thank you! I do not know why I did not immediately think of a PivotTable, but it worked exactly as I needed it to. I appreciate your help.
