I've had a look at the spreadsheet that you attached and 'fixed it' for you :)
I've written a few notes on there that hopefully point you in the right direction as far as understanding the formulas. You should find it pretty flexible as far as adding or removing people and jobs goes, just watch out for the column headings of the rate table, they must match exactly the name of the job.
