Publish Excel file online, but restrict opening in desktop app

Are you positive people will not be able to view those tabs in On-line Excel?
You should be able to change the user rights of the sharepoint library, but I am not sure if blocking access to edit on-line is one of them. You can set the default to work on-line, but that is already the default.

JKPieterse Thanks for the reply Jan. As far as I see, there is not an option to restrict 'opening in desktop' or downloading the file.
- JKPieterseSep 04, 2019Silver ContributorI would advise to remove the sensitive data from the file. Excel protection is too poor to prevent people from getting at sensitive data within the file once they've succeeded to open the file.
