Problem With Percentage

Hi i am new to excel, and when i try to put for example 2.5% on my cell then it shows 250.00%

I have tried cell format under percentage, your help will mean a lot to me.

    In addition to Haytham's advice, also note that the percentage format works like this when using whole numbers:

    1 = 100%
    0.5 = 50%
    1.6 = 160%
    10 = 1000%

    And so on and so forth. Can be applied to formulas too.

    Hi Prince,

     

    What you did is you have put the number in the cell and then applied the percentage format to it!

     

    You have to apply the percentage format before you put the number, or to put the number along with percentage sign!

    Don't type 2.5 but 2.5%.
