Problem sorting by data

When attempting to sort entries on data spreadsheet by date I am getting a message that states "To do this, all the merged cells need to be the same size."

Thanks! Yes the auto-replace function in the spell checker screwed up.

Hi, I am having the same issue and it will not sort because of merged cells.  How do I fix this? Please and Thank you

As mentioned before, do NOT use merged cells! They do more harm than good.

Just do NOT use merge cells anywhere. Unless it's a final report that does not require further analysis, sorting, filtering etc. Merged cells may serve an ecstatic purpose but they are a disaster when they are included in raw data sets.

Although I like contemplating whatever the "ecstatic purposes" might be that my friend Riny_van_Eekelen has in mind, I'm pretty sure he meant "aesthetic" -- on the other hand, perhaps it was Spell Check that intervened. 😉

The basic point, though, is entirely sound. Avoid merged cells on anything other than a final output report, and even there, be careful. I would extend the warning: don't get overly creative with colors and other formatting doo-dads except on final reports, AKA "output." Raw data should be kept as raw as possible; it doesn't need to be made pretty.
