Pivot Tables: Trying to populate text but it populates "count of" or "sum of"

Hi, I'm trying to make pivot tables in Excel office 365 on mac os 11.5.2 but when I click on a something like, month, first name, last name, it defaults to "count of month", "count of first name" I can only change to "sum" "%" all number based when I am just trying to populate the actual month or name of  a person.

Can someone help me ready this issue?

Thank you.

Not sure I understood an issue. PowerPivot allows only to count texts if you add such field to Values. You may add text field for rows or columns, no aggregation is such case.

In Values it only let's me chose things like, count, sum, average, product etc... the youtube video I'm watching when they click on last name it shows their last name not count of last name or sum of last name. Seems like I need to do something but I can't find what to do so when I click on "First" the first name populates not the "count of the first name".
      Thank you

brandonday Excel for the Mac supports only "regular" pivot tables. Numerical values can be summarised in many different ways. Texts, on the other hand, can only be counted when dragged into the value area. Not sure which videos you have watched, but they can't have been dealing with Excel for Mac.
