MS Office Excel 2019

I have just installed MS Office 2019.

When I open/close a workbook I get the following message:

Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications

Compile error in hidden module: Autoexec.

This error commonly occurs when code is incompatible with

the version, platform, or architecture of this application. Click

'Help' for information on how to correct this error.

Clicking on OK clears the message with no detriment to the workbook.

How do I stop it from appearing ?

Check out which add-ins are installed in Excel, turn them off one-by-one to see which causes this.

JKPieterse Thank you for your reply, I have checked the add-ins for the workbook and find that there are no "Active Applications Add-ons" or "Document Related Add-ins".

The only entries are under "Inactive Application Add-ins"

I am in an area I don't fully understand have you any further advice ?

Likely. Open Excel options, click the addd-ins tab. Then close to the bottom use the drop-down and choose "Excel Add-ins" and click the Go button. Note the ones which are checked and uncheck them one-by-one, each time rebooting Excel to check if the error goes away. Repeat the above for "COM Add-ins" if you still have issues.
If that doesn't help, open WIndows explorer and type this into the address bar:
        %appdata%\microsoft\excel\xlstart
and press enter. Move any files you see there to a temporary folder ands reboot Excel to see if the problem goes away. If not, open Excel, open File, Options and click the Advanced tab. Under the General section, check the box next to "Open all files in" and repeat the same for that folder (if any).
