Limitation on Map Chart

I inserted a map chart into a powerpoint presentation. I went to "edit data" and deleted all of the existing country data and began entering US state data to create a color coded US state map. This worked fine for the first 11 states. I would enter the state name, enter a value, and it would color code that state. For some reason the chart doesn't recognize any more that 11 states. I'll enter the 12th state, enter a value, and nothing.  Any idea how to get the chart to recognize/color code all 50 states?  Thanks.

Figured this one out for myself -- I had to "Select Data" and then change the data range. The data range chart had some funky non-intuitive formula like: =Sheet1!$A$1:$B$12.  I switched the "12" to "52" and I'm guessing that all of the states will now color code the way I'd like them to.
