Is there any API to generate an Excel workbook on the fly from datasource

I am looking for some information regarding Integrating with Office 365 Excel.

 

My question is:

 

Is there an API where we can create a workbook on the fly, which receives its data from a datasource and render that Excel workbook on a webpage?
