- Sep 27, 2020First of all, I am pleased that I was able to help you.
I would also be happy to receive a "like" or "best answer".
I can very well understand that Mr. Hans Vogelaar does not want to interfere, even if I am sure that he knows the options for unlocking a file better than someone like me.
The basic rule is that instructions to unlock password-protected files should only be used on your own files.
Otherwise it could be possible that you will be prosecuted.
Therefore any help in this direction is avoided as far as possible.
On the other hand…
Basically, the use of password-protected Excel files (in my opinion) serves more to protect the user from accidentally deleting the formulas / content. And less that you shouldn't see what's hidden.
The worksheet can be protected with a maximum of approx. 2000 attempts, i.e. this is relatively quick with a small macro. The protection for the VBA project can also be removed within 15 minutes (if one is good enough) if you can fill a common search engine.
Even if it can be used as standard AES128 / AES256 from the new Excel versions to encrypt password-protected files, it is still possible to bypass this.
Despite all the restrictions and legal uncertainties, we try to help as much as possible. Please note that we are all volunteers here. In the best case scenario, our reward is a "like" or a "best answer".Most of us, like me, have the attitude: "What speaks against doing something good when nobody is watching?"
Finally, I would like to get rid of one last thought.
Help to be helped ... help and expect nothing.
I wish you good health, joy and love in your lifeThank you for your time and patience to read my thoughts.Nikolino

You can unlock the VBA project and possibly see whether it contains a time lock and change / delete this permanently.
However, the question here is not whether it is feasible, but rather whether this is also allowed.
With your permission, I could give you the following help... try to change Date settings in your operating system to the date before 2020 (maybe using 01.01.2019) and then try to open the file again. Just a simple little suggestion for a solution from me.
I would be happy to know if I could help.
