I need help writting a complex formula involving dates

Hi,

I have a complex formula that I need to write involving dates.

I have students that are handing in an assignment.

I have a due date column.

I then have "grace" period of one week. After this for each week (period) it is overdue they receive a point (this is then multiplied out to get a deduction from the final mark).

How do I write a formula to work out how many periods in a month it was overdue?

Example: The assignment was provided in the 3 week from the due date and the second week from the grace period. The failure of the student existed for 2 weeks past the "grace" period so they will 2 x penalty points.

  • Hi Nicole,

It depends on how do you calculate weeks - is that calendar 7 days or you exclude public holidays and/or weekends; if the exam passed in 27 days from due date (i.e. 3 weeks and 6 days) is that considered as 3 weeks or 4 weeks delay?
