How to save workbook so reference to addin is saved

I have an "add-in" (not personal add-in) that is automatically loaded when Excel is opened.

When I create a new workbook and open Visual Basic tools and link a reference to that addin how can I save the workbook so the reference is maintained after I close the workbook such that it will know to use it the next time it is opened?
