Highlighting part of a sentence in a column

I am trying to highlight part of a sentence in a column and the option in Home to highlight is not letting me, it only gives me the option to change the color of my words.  How do I highlight just part of a sentence when it is not an option

    That's weird and the reason I am asking is because someone did and provided me a copy to show me so that's why I was trying. They suggested it and showed me a mock up. Thank you for your answer, I'll highlight the entire thing! 🙂
