Formula components missing when I type in formula
Hello,
I just started using a MacBook for Excel. From my previous work with a Microsoft computer, I know that if you start typing in a formula, you get the components of it shown. This does not work for my Mac. I have a picture attached. I am talking about the yellow highlighted part which is not displayed on my Mac. I have the newest version of Excel. How can I activate this on the Mac?
Thanks in advance and kind regards
Goethestudent Ooops, Misread your question. To show the function arguments, make sure the Function Screen Tips are enabled in the Preferences..., View settings. That should fix it.

When you are typing a formula and components are missing or not functioning as expected, it could be due to several reasons. Here are some common issues and solutions:
Typographical Errors: Double-check your formula for typos, misspellings, or incorrect syntax. Even a small mistake can cause the formula to not work.
Mismatched Parentheses: Ensure that you have matching parentheses in your formula. If you open a parenthesis, you must close it. Mismatched parentheses can cause errors.
Function Names: Verify that you are using the correct function names. Different software and tools may have variations in function names. Check the documentation for your specific software to confirm.

Click on Excel (top left), then Preferences...
In the Formulas and Lists group, select AutoComplete.
Make sure the options for functions and named ranges are checked.
- GoethestudentCopper ContributorHello, thank you for your answer! Everything is activated regarding the auto complete and it also was before. I even installed everything new and changed the account I am using but there is nothing that helped so far. It shows me the formulas I can choose from when I start typing it in, but when I click on one, it does not show the components of the formula. I am not missing the auto complete. Do you have an idea how I can solve this?
