Filter on a Sheet View "leaking" into the default view

Excel for Mac version 16.82 (24010231) on a MacBook Air M2 running macOS Sonoma 14.2. I have a workbook saved in my OneDrive with a simple table. I create a new Sheet View and filter the table on one of the columns.

 

If I quickly switch to my custom view and back to the Default view, the filter is only applied when I switch to the custom view and is removed as expected when I switch back to the Default view. However, if I linger in the custom view for a few seconds and then switch back to the Default view, the filter is applied to the default view.

 

Is anyone else seeing this behaviour? This is a bug, right?

    It turns out this is happening with Excel on Windows as well, although I can't reproduce it as reliably there.

    Is nobody else seeing this issue?
