Excel watermark/ washout
How do I move my picture as watermark in my spreadsheet?

The easiest way, but not sure if works on excel Mac, from page layout tab --> from page setup group click on delete background.
Also try this:
On the Layout tab, under Page Setup, click Header &Footer.
Click Customize Header, and then click the section of the sheet header in which the watermark appears.
Select the watermark, and then press DELETE , then click OK
