Excel tabs
When I go to an excel tab and right click on the sheet everything is grayed out, why?

Please clarify a bit. You select another sheet by left click on the sheet tab with its name, correct?
At which place of the selected sheet you right click then?
In general if the sheet is grayed out that means you performed Select All operation on it. For example by clicking top left corner under the A1 cell where column and row bars crosses.
If you right click on Sheet 1 at the bottom of the spreadsheet, all the options are grayed out.
Do you mean these options?
