Could you please let me the know the exact difference in MAcro and online excel script automate

What I understand Macro is availble in Excel Desktop App , however Script automate is available office excel online.  But what other difference occurs in between two.

• Is Automate activated in ExcelDesktop App
• Is Macro activated in Excel web online
