I am experiencing the same behaviour 🙄
All other office docs are read only in the preview, but the Excel preview allows editing via the full view button bottom right as described by the OP.
Does anyone know if this is by design or a bug?
I.E. Is the preview supposed to be read-only for all office docs or not?
