gyankosh I think you misread my post. The data I type seems to copy itself into other cells. What I typed copied over the 42851 I had in the next cell.

gyankosh I tried to copy just the offending record, but it didn't paste properly. I can't share the sheet, it's personal information, sorry.
Can you do a "Save a Copy" of the problematic sheet, and take the confidential info out of the copy...and share that sanitized copy, or even just a subset of it, so long as this problematic behavior is happening in the one you post. An image really is inadequate (despite the saying of a picture being worth a thousand words)...an actual spreadsheet would help us diagnose.
mathetes I tried this, but as soon as i took everything else out, it didn't do it any more (in the copy) - maybe it's because it's a copy.
