    1.Select the group of cells
2.On the Home pane, click on Auto fill for the drop down menu
3.Clock on Series... in the drop down menu
    4.Select Autofill
    5.Click on OK

This is what fixed my issue. It was set to manually update the calculations on the sheet. Setting it to automatic did indeed correct the issue. I found it on my own by poking around and was coming in to post, and thought let me just check to see if someone else found this same fix and VanQuiBui did. Thanks!!

    Hello!

The series function was working on my pc till yesterday. But today I want to autofill hundreds of cells with same equation and different inputs, but when I drag the 1st cell with + mark, all I get is the same answer in every cell. Equation is different in each cell, but not answer. I need to manually click on the equation in each cell to get right answer. What can I do?

    Thank you!

If you have added filters then this makes the fill handle cause an issue. So that remove any filters applied in the sheet (not clear filters, remove filtering option) and try to drag & down the cell. This will show the fill handle option again.

Never mind, I found the solution. Go to File>Options>Formulas and set to Automatic.

I don't know how it changed in the first place though!

Yes this was my issue as well. Thank you so much!! It can get changed if you are opening downloaded excel files im guessing. I opened another spreadsheet and pasted it and everything worked.

In case you need to get Excel AutoFill not working, you can switch it off by doing the following:
Click on File in Excel 2010-2013 or on the Office button in version 2007.
Go to Options -> Advanced and untick the checkbox Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop.

  • Have you tried holding down ctrl when dragging the fill handle?

Craig_Raisig  in dindt work try thisa: Don't know how to get it turned back on, but you can add it to the Quick Access Toolbar by right clicking on "Fill" from the home tab. Found it, finally. Hope this helps others. Under options, advanced, "show paste options button when content is pasted" - needs to be checked.
