DATE Function

Hi,

It is worth saying that the screen shot provided is from the "Get Started with Formulas" featured template that is provided by Microsoft and can be accessed from the File Tab.

Select File > New and click on the Featured link at the top.

Click on the one that says "Get Started with Formulas".

Select the "Date & Time" worksheet.

 

Cells "D6" and "D7" have been formatted with the US Style date format "mm/dd/yy;@"

 

When you type 29/3/97 into cell "D7" it will be recognised as a date
When you type 3/29/97 into cell "D7" it will be displayed as 3/29/97 and treated as text

When you type 9/6/18 into cell "D6" it will be displayed as 06/09/18 and recognised as a date

The formula in cell "D8" will return #VALUE! when either of the cells contain text.
