Copy and paste issues

Hello there! Every time I copy and then paste on an Excel spread sheet, it freezes. And it stays frozen (page turns white after a minute or so and wheel just turns.)

It will say Excel "not responding" and I have to close app and start over. And If I didn't save anything while working on it, I lose it all. Any suggestions to Why this is happening and how to fix it?

    First step in diagnosis is getting a complete and precise description of symptoms. Your description needs some refining. 

    • "Every time" ... EVERY?! That seems over the top.
      • How many times (roughly) has it happened?
      • Was it ever working?  When did this "freezing" start? How recently? 
      • What are you copying and pasting? Data? Formulas? Formatted areas? Unformatted areas?
      • How big is the selection being copied?
      • Does it work with smaller selections?
    • Every time I copy...
      • How about Cut and Paste? Does it happen then too?
    • ...on an Excel spreadsheet
      • Are you able to Copy and Paste in other Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point)?
    • What computer model, memory size? What version of Excel?
