Column labels became numbers instead of letters
Does that sheet contain a table? If you scroll a sheet with a table while the active cell is inside the table, the column letters A, B, C etc. will be replaced with the column headers of the table.

So maybe it is in a table... It doesn't make any difference where I click on te page, the headers remain. So the issue remains, what do I have to do to fix it? It's a pain in the bum like it is!

The only way that I know of to suppress this behavior is not to display the header row at all.
Click anywhere in the table.
Activate the Table Design tab of the ribbon.
In the Table Style Options group, clear the check box Header Row.
