CHM helpfile access from Excel Add-In in Excel 2016
I've written an Excel add-in in c++ that uses a .CHM file as a help resource, this worked fine in Excel 2010 but after installing Excel 2016 it appears that online help is the preferred option and my help file is ignored. As my colleagues use the add-in in environments where internet is unavailable most of the time (at sea, on ship yards, on the beach, etc.) I'd like to know in which manner I can create a working off-line help system for my .xll

Are you sure it isn't simply Windows blocking the chm file?

No, I don't think so as it worked yesterday with Excel2010 and if I double click a .CHM file it just opens, but anyway, thanks for your suggestion,
