Charting X and Y variables
Excel for Mac 2019
Hi . I have a table of two independent variables X and Y which define points (X,Y), and I want to plot those points with a line between them on a chart. The X variable increases irregularly at each point (it never goes down).
The line chart won't do this (?) as it plots them as two separate y-axis variables against equal intervals on the x-axis.
The scatter chart plots the points properly but won't plot a line sequentially to connect each point correctly. What am I failing to see here, please?

Make sure that you select the "Scatter with Straight Lines and Markers" (or "Scatter with Straight Lines") subtype of the XY Scatter Chart.
