Chart Size Changing when I Enter it Directly
Hi,
I am building dashboards and trying to resize the charts so that they are the same dimensions. When I go into the dialog box for the chart size and enter dimensions directly, once I hit Tab or Enter or select another box, Excel changes the dimension that I entered. As an example, I tried puting in the height as 7.22 cm, and as soon as I leave that box, the dimension changes to 7.24 cm (I've also tried with fewer decimal places, and the issue persists).
I've also tried with different selections in Properties, but this change still occurs.
How can I stop this from happening?

The issue you are facing with Excel automatically changing the chart size after entering dimensions might be related to Excel's default settings for units and rounding. To have more precise control over the chart size, you can adjust Excel's settings and use the following steps:
- Change Measurement Units:
Excel sometimes rounds dimensions based on the measurement units it's using. To avoid this, you can change the measurement units to a more precise option, like inches or points:
- Click on the "File" tab.
- Select "Options" at the bottom of the left sidebar.
- In the Excel Options window, select "Advanced."
- Scroll down to the "Display" section.
- In the "Ruler units" dropdown, change it to "Inches" or "Points."
- Adjust Chart Size:
Now that you have changed the measurement units, you can adjust the chart size more precisely:
- Select the chart you want to resize.
- Go to the "Format" tab on the ribbon (this tab might also be called "Chart Tools" depending on your version of Excel).
- In the "Size" group, click on the "Size" dropdown.
- Manually Enter Dimensions:
- In the "Size" dropdown menu, choose "More Options..."
- In the "Format Chart Area" pane that appears on the right, you can manually enter precise dimensions for the chart.
- Enter the desired values for width and height in the "Size" section. You can use units like inches or points for more precision.
- Press Enter or click outside the text boxes to apply the new dimensions.
These steps should help you resize your charts more accurately without Excel rounding the dimensions. The text and steps were created with the help of AI.
