Can't get excel to replace a linear trend line for a graph that is visibly curved
Excel is refusing to replace linear trendlines with polynomial trendlines for "Near linear" curves

Could you attach a small sample workbook demonstrating the problem (without sensitive data), or if that is not possible, make it available through OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or similar?
