Balance Column

Hello,

If I had time to take a course in Excel, I would. I just need to know the formula for a Balance Column.

All of the formulas I have tried work for one row, but I cannot get them to work for the following rows, without typing them in for each cell. Can you help? I have tried: =sum(f6:g6,h5); =sum(f6,+g6,+h5); and many others. I want each row in the balance column (column H) to reflect the number in the cell above it, plus the numbers in columns F and G of the same row.

I am dealing with quite a few negative numbers. Is that throwing off the system? I just want a basic balance column, but no matter what I put in, it won't fill down properly to the other cells in the column. Any ideas?

    Hi Iora

I've mocked up your sheet and done the formula and it appears to work fine for me. Very similar to your formula, but mine is =SUM(F2, G2, H1) and then auto fill downwards.

    File is attached.

    Here's an image as well:

Hopefully this is what you were looking for? If not, let us know and we'll try again!

    Good luck!

    Cheers
