AutoSum Not working

I am having trouble getting my autosum working in the newest Excel on Mac. I have researched here and tried I think all the obvious - the column is set as a numerical cell, the formula looks right, but only the formula appears in the cell there is no calculation

    And also, check for the "Show Formulas" button the Formulas ribbon. Make sure it is disabled. The picture below show the enabled state.

    It looks like the cells have been formatted as Text. Make sure that the entire column is formatted as General or as Number.

    Select A2:A56.

    On the Data tab of the ribbon, click Text to Columns.

    Select Delimited, then click Finish.

    Next, select F57. Press F2 then Enter to re-enter the formula.
