Automate multiple find and replace functions

I have a large database and need to use find and replace 16 times to update the data. How do I automate the process. I’m thinking about a macro or something similar. I’m just a novice user so please be gentle!

    Is this a one-off or do you have to do this repeatedly? On the same file or on a different file each time, ... In other words can you elaborate on the process a bit?
