Starting edge on 2 machines when userdata is on a network share
LS,
We administer a client network where they use RDS servers for the users.
1 user starts 2 RDS sessions and wants to start MS Edge on but servers. When Edge is started on the 1st server, the 2nd server will not start Edge. Only after closing Edge on the first server, it will start on the 2nd server, but now it won't start on the first.
Investigation learned that a GroupPolicy where the option "Set the user data directory" was redirected to the users Home folder (H:\Edge) was the main issuer of this problem.
It seems that suring startup of MsEdge (Version 90.0.818.56) creates a file named lockfile in the User Data folder.
This lockfile disappears during closing MsEdge, forcing the lockfile to be closed on the File server, I managed to start Edge on both servers.
Why does MsEdge create a lockfile, or better how do I prevent this so I can run MsEdge on both RDS Sessions?

Jlamersneh Hello! I believe the behavior you are experiencing is by design. Have you tested with the UserDataDir Policy turned off?
Just wanted to mention, similarly when on-premises sync is used, the user data file gets locked because the user data is moved between computers. (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-on-premises-sync#running-microsoft-edge-on-more-than-one-computer-at-a-time-isnt-recommended)
Thanks!

I understand it is by design, but what purpose would be a lock file on starting Edge, Chrome and Firefox do not have such limitations.
