Bug report: Text selection freezes page on Windows touch devices since 121.0.2277.83

Hello, we've got an issue on our Windows touch devices.
When text is selected in an input form field / textarea form field (e.g. search fields on Bing.com, Google.com, text input in chats like discord.com) with finger or stylus, the blue sliders to select more/less text can't be moved and the page freezes. Switching to another tab and then switching back unfreezes the page again, but the text selection issue persist.
This occurs on all branches, Stable, Beta, Dev and Canary since switching to major release 121.

Edit: Text selection with mouse works, it only fails when using touch input methods.

Could someone from the team please take a look into this, it's really blocking the work flow of our road warriors. Thanks!

  • Neon01 Hello - The latest update from our developer is that the fix will be included in the next Stable v125 release.  Please test when that is available (expected later this week) and reach out if you are still reproducing the issue.  Thank you!

  • Neon01 Thanks for reaching out!  I've confirmed with our developer that this is a known issue.  I'll follow up with updates regarding the fix once they've been able to investigate further.

Kelly_Y Dear Kelly, are there any news on this?
The bug is now 5 months old and still present on all branches (Stable, Beta, Dev, Canary)! We had to roll back the stable version to 120.0.2210.167 and disable updates to keep our field staff working.

This is neither safe nor an acceptable solution, please let the developers know that a fix is urgently needed.
      Thanks and best regards

Neon01 Hi - Thanks for your patience!  The team has been discussing several issues related to pen/touch recently.  For their investigation, would you be able to let us know the devices currently being affected by the issue?  Also, do you have a video recording of the issue?  Thanks!
