Youtube playback on Edge audio distorted.

Hello!

Recently I stuck with awful issue. Lenovo IdeaPad 5 laptop with Windows 11 Home OEM. Fully updated drivers.

When playing most of YouTube videos on Win11 Edge produce very low volume or even distorted sound. For some content the volume jumps randomly to normal and after few moments drops back.

Same in InPrivate window. What is really weird is that the advertisements before the content are always playing perfectly.

No issues when playing streaming (TV) or other video services. Everything works fine for local files playback using Media player.

Disabling Hardware acceleration did not produce any change.

Not related to volume mixer 🙂

Other computers on the same home wireless network - no issue.

Any idea will be greatly appreciated.

Edge version: 120.0.2210.91 (Official build) (64-bit )
Thanks a lot in advance.

Are you still experiencing this issue?

If so - could you capture edge://media-internals logs after reproducing the issue? It's best if you can limit the amount of content in the logs by restarting the browser first & then hopefully just playing one ad which is not impacted & 1 video which is impacted.

Both ads & regular content should go through the same audio rendering stack inside of Chromium which may leave something like audio codec or the specific content as potential sources of the difference.

Hello. I'll try to pull logs. I make some more tests and what is really interesting, the issue seems to be related to system codecs. Firefox experiencing same problem during YouTube playback.
