Sep 17, 2019Top feedback summary for September 17
Note: This is no longer the most recent top feedback summary. You can always find the latest at https://aka.ms/MSEdgeTopFeedback.
Hey everyone, here is this week’s update to the top feedback list. Today I’d like to call out two topics which have been addressed:
- We fixed a bug where some website consent was being flipped upside down after switching tabs. The issue was with HTML <canvas> elements, and led to some amusing outcomes like upside down Bing maps.
- We’ve also addressed reports that the sign-in profile picture can become stale, not updating in Microsoft Edge when it’s updated on your MSA profile. This should be resolved now, and you should see profile picture updates within a day.
Thanks for all the great feedback, and do keep it coming!
Here is the updated list of top feedback:

Enable Microsoft account login from the browser web page (instead of/ in addition to using windows 10 UI ), just like chrome does for google login.
at work all Microsoft account login is blocked by the company's group policy, and hence I am unable to use login to browser at all at my work.

Hmm, how does one use Microsoft products and then block Microsoft access on them?!
which group policy even does that?
- yellowdogvnBrass ContributorI agree with "Provide run / open / save / save as options when downloading files". It's so convenience for the people who like me. I hate to move files because it take me a long time!
- yellowdogvnBrass ContributorI think to bring Cortana to Edge is a good idea. People who're using windows 7 can use Cortana without updating to windows 10.
P/s: I'm still like windows 7 than windows 10 just coz it's easier to use- Oh if you're on Windows 7 you Won't be able to use Cortana feature in Edge insider. the integration does not mean that they are going to embed the whole Cortana program into the browser. the browser sends and calls commands from/to Cortana app inside Windows 10.

"Bring the reading list feature from the current version of Microsoft Edge" Yes. This was nice for articles and things. Maybe even allow reading pages to be added to collections too.
"The address bar and its text are too big, and should be smaller like Chrome" No! That would make it worse for touch users and may make it harder to read text on larger or smaller screens. I don't know how much smaller you would have to make it anways to gain a significant amount of content on the Webpage. A few 2-40 pixels won't change much.
- pneenkoalabearSteel Contributorbut Windows can detect when a device has a touchscreen. It already changes things like the system tray.

I really hope for "Bring the Ask Cortana feature from the current version of Microsoft Edge" It's much better than Chromiums way of opening a new tab.
"Bring the tab set aside feature from the current version of Microsoft Edge" That would be nice. Collections kind of work like this feature but I still think there are some different use cases. Collections is an organized launch of websites and organize favourites in some way and better than using Favourites to save things. Set Aside is content from your last session is saved. I use that currently in the way of opening Task Manager and force closing Edge so the crash feature built into Chromium will ask me if I reopen my last sessions.
"Bring the tab preview feature from the current version of Microsoft Edge" This is just nice and convenient. Will this include the option to always show the webpages of tabs open like in EDGEHTML?

pbilk There's also a setting to have Edge continue with the last tabs it had open when you closed it. It's "Continue where you left off" on edge://settings/onStartup.

I noticed scrolling has changed recently on the Dev and Canary builds but not the Beta. It is smoother, but I honestly liked the previous scrolling better, especially when using the page up and down keys. It now takes longer for the page to jump when using those keys. It would be nice to revert the scrolling behavior or to have a slider to reduce the smoothness by a bit.
Edit: I do like the scrolling on classic Edge though, it's similar but slightly "faster". An exact replication of that would also be great

Could someone look into why the Last Pass extension doesn't work in the Dev channel browser? It is really frustrating since that is my password manager. It may be a LastPass thing and so its on them to fix it but if it is an Edge thing perhaps someone could take a look?

Hi briancuster, did you install the Last Pass extension from the Microsoft Add-On store or from the Google Chrome store? Thanks - Elliot
- GilesBruleIron Contributor
Hi, I am using the LastPass extension with the dev channel and have no problems so it may not be a wide spread problem. -Giles

I haven't installed LastPass extension but the credential manager that comes with Edge Dev browser is not working properly as well. I can type in the correct password but be informed not correct until I continue to retype, retype and then it is finally accepted.
So, what is the problem, the browser or website???

A feature request from the public sector is the ability to digitally sign a pdf in Edge with a Smart Card. If the function was added to digitally sign a PDF with a Smart Card, many federal agencies wouldnt have to depend on the 3rd party application Adobe Reader for this function and could fully leverage Edge for PDFs instead. Thanks for adding "Support mouse gestures for common actions like navigation and tab close" to the list. I hope it gets implemented soon, browsing is just not very fluid right now on a laptop.
