Hey there, Insiders! This week is a big week, so let’s see what we’re updating!
We are truly excited to bring Linux into the family of supported operating systems for Microsoft Edge. Starting today, you can download our Edge Dev channel for Linux. To get the installer packages, you can head to our Microsoft Edge Insider site or install it directly from Microsoft’s Linux Software Repository. You can read more about the newest addition to the Edge family on our blog.
This week we’re opening up Add ability to close tabs via double-click for discussion, moving this item from Under Review to In Discussion. The team wants to know more about why you find this would be beneficial for you, so head over to the discussion thread to let us know!
A few weeks ago, we promised an update around history sync. Today, we’re updating the status from Planned for Summer to Planned for November. We know that you all are particularly excited about this feature, and we will have more details once we start rolling this into the Canary channel.
During Microsoft Ignite this year, we talked a bit about bringing kiosk mode to the new Edge. This week, we’re adding Enable kiosk mode to the list as Planned. We recently implemented the beginnings of this mode, however once we have more details we will provide an update here.
Lastly, we are updating the status of Add the ability to ink on web page content to Planned for October. While we have implemented the beginnings of this feature and some users may have seen it in Canary starting last month, we expect more users will see this in both Canary and Dev throughout the rest of this month.

Hello,
Any news with the Voice recognition on Google products?
I need it for Google translate and it's the only real important feature I miss on Edge, compared to Chrome or Cent.
- You could always use the translator that built into Microsoft bing
ethanmenzel I do not see speech to text in Bing Translator, only the opposite, text to speech.
Can you give an URL to speech to text?
Anyways, I'm using Google Translate for a reason and I don't want to switch to Bing.
If I have to go back to Cent, unfortunately, I will do it.
- I don't know if this would work but someone correct me or give input. Just a suggestion.
I like how verticle tabs are at the moment and if you add tab preview to the verticle tabs it would make it even better but since verticle tabs is a thing now on edge I think we could make horizontal tabs even better. I like on verticle tabs you get the ability to press the pin icon to see the entire tab with the icon and text like in the horizontal tabs. Essentially the same in verticle and horizontal tabs. What I think could make horizontal tabs even better is the ability to have the text and only show the icon like in verticle tabs. It would be nice to make verticle tabs and horizontal tabs essentially the same thing but vertically or horizontal with the same features if possible.- I'm thinking maybe in horizontal tabs we show only the icons as default and then when you hover over the tab it expands to show the text like in verticle tabs and we add a little pin or some icon button to make the sabs always show the icon and the text.
- Will anyone ever acknowledge the touch input issues in Edge?
Hey, I'm trying to use the 'text note' feature on PDF, but I find that:
1. I have to right-click to use the 'add comment'
2. The notes just display partly
3. I can change the color of the note quickly
Please show a little menu like the old edge after selecting a sentence, it will be more friendly.

Hello MissyQ, there is a bug in Microsoft Edge on Linux:
- Try to install the official extension of Microsoft called Microsoft Editor: Spelling and Grammar Checker.
- It will fail and will push one of extensions out of the hidden menu.

Daniel00000 If you are submitting feedback via the browser (... menu > Help and feedback > Send feedback), that's how items end up on this list. Since this is "top" feedback, we add items as they gather traction or as features gather more support from the community (such as vertical tabs, which was added based on user request on these forums). A few things.
1. Can we vet verticle tabs on the left and the right. At the current moment, it is only available on the left.
2. Can we get the option to sign in with touch id/fingerprint reader/ windows Hello within Edge. Safari already has it and I think it would be a great feature to snag for edge
3. I've said this many times to people at the edge but can we get a video recorder for the web similar to the web capture but for videos.
4. Possibly making the look and feel of edges like internet explorer where you get two search bars on for searching and one for the website link and then underneath is the tabs like a safari. In the current/chrome edge it tabs and then the search bar while in internet explorer and safari it is website link then tabs which looks a little more cleaner
5. Bigger and rounder forward and backward buttons like in internet explorer.
6. The close all tabs popup like internet explorer has.
7. When redirecting to edge from another app don't open edge alongside the default landing page. Only open edge with the redirected website link.
