Switching from Stable Version to Canary Version

Hey! I was wondering, how can I switch from my stable MS Edge version to Canary Version? I know I can download and use it side by side but I want to SWITCH the existing installed EDGE to Canary Version.

Any suggestions on that?

  • Abdullah_Shahneel Welcome to our community! Glad to hear that you're enjoying Canary and that things are working as intended now. If that changes, just let us know and/or submit a bug report through the in-browser feedback button.

Thank you so much, and yes I will, surely, give feedback about features in Canary Version.

Thank you once again for providing response.

  • Hi,
you can fully uninstall Edge stable from control panel or Windows 10 settings -> Apps
    and then install Edge canary
    https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/download

or like you said just install canary and let the stable also be there.

either way make sure you have sync enabled so you can access your favorites, passwords etc

HotCakeX Actually I just did that ... but due to some reason it wasn't syncing all my passwords. I checked after installing there were total 176 creds. in Canary version but when I checked my Old Edge, there were 186 Creds. May be it was due to some sort of bug. So, i uninstalled it. That's why I asked if i can shift my old edge to canary

Oh, well in that case I think you shouldn't make the switch, at least not until the sync is fully reliable, to prevent data loss.
you can export your passwords from here: edge://settings/passwords
but you won't be able to import them back to Edge.
of course there are extensions like LastPass that can do that for you cross-browser (also available on Windows Store) which I'm using and that's another option you have.

        in here: edge://sync-internals/
you can get more info about your sync data and their status.
