Surface Pen doesn't open touch keyboard
Been happening since edge chromium was first available, currently running Edge Dev 79.0.279.0
Touch keyboard doesn't open when a text field is touched with the pen, works with a finger and touching the keyboard icon in the taskbar will also bring it up
Edit: noticed it's fixed as of dev 82.0.453.2
For everyone that still has this issue -- try the following: in Settings > Devices > Pen in the Handwriting section, set the "use handwriting to input text" option to "when keyboard is not attached". Then when you tap on a field with the pen and the handwriting panel appears, tap the keyboard+cog icon at top left and tap on the first icon on the first row (keyboard).

This happens to me as well, every input text regardless of using type cover or even tablet mode.
It happens in Chrome as well so I assume that is a chromium issue.
This is very annoying because I like to use the pen as input.

Emanuel_Ramos I don't know what changed and it's not the perfect solution. Now I can tap a text field with my finger and that will open up the typing interface. May have been around for a while but I don't remember if I tried originally.
- Buenas noches quisiera darles una recomendacion que agreguen en Este Nuevo proyecto Microsoft Edge o bueno mi navegador favorito que porfavor si pudieran agregar la opcion de agregar aplicaciones ya que en la parte de chrome web store cuando quiero descargar una extension que es aplicacion llamada Floating Video me dice que no es compatible si pudieran esa compatabilidad megustaria mucho porfavor a todos los usuarios nos encantaria y si pudieran cambiar su tienda de microsoft store a chrome web store seria bueno tambien ya que en la web store aparecen todas las extensiones en microsoft store ay unas que no aparecen esa es mi recomendacion para que cumpla las expectativas como navegador buen trabajo el que estan haciendo saludos

I can confirm this issue, happens on both my machines (surface, Windows 10 v1903 & non-surface tablet with active stylus, Windows 8.1).
Then pen doesn't fire up the virtual keyboard, neither in address-bar nor any text- or input-fields.
And worst of all, starting with Canary v80.0.318.0, even touching with the finger to bring up the keyboard is broken now 😞
