Screen dims when playing fullscreen video.

Elliot Kirk

When I play videos in full screen, the screen brightness dims. This is very annoying as I want to see more vivid colors when watching videos. When I hit volume or screen brightness buttons, it goes back to normal, but then dims immediately afterward.

I will play around with some flags in Edge Canary, see if there is a workaround for you.

    Thanks,

    Frank.

Which Edge insider browser is this happening on for you, and is this a recent issue?

    Thanks,

    Frank.

Canary. Yes, its a recent issue, and I think its meant to save battery, but this is the wrong way to do it.

cjc2112 Mine does the same thing. Windows 10 with edge browser. Anytime it's plugged in and I watch a video in fullscreen, it dims considerably. Still haven't found a solution either.

I've been fixed for about 1 week so far & stable. Edge is version 109.0.1518.78 (x64), Win 11, Surface Studio Laptop & this was the change I made:

Settings > Apps > Video playback > "Adjust video based on lighting around me", set to off. I'm 99% sure I've done this in the past also to no avail but I'm finally stable without any full screen videos in Edge darkening the display.

I also noticed full screen RDP would dim as well several times so this issue isn't solely limited to Edge & full screen videos while plugged in.
