Notepad bugs windows 11
1) Notepad opens all versions of recently edited files.
2) Notepad attempts to update changes, even though these were made on another computer.
3) When you open a file ending with the .bat extension, it does not save edits unless you choose Save As.
version 11.2309.28.0

Hi - you're in Edge insider forum, not Windows (insider) forum.
1) Can you explain this in more details? What does "opens all versions" mean?
2) Notepad does not support having multiple people working on the same file at the same time. Updates are not transferred automatically between computers.
3) Are you sure that you have write-permissions to the .bat file. Try opening Notepad as admin and see if you can save the .bat file without using Save As.- jsteinkamp1Copper Contributor1) Many txt files open. I find this quite frustrating. I have no idea which is the most current edit.
1-4) I am able to fix all my issues by doing this:
a) Select the Notepad.exe with Right mouse, choose App settings, Reset the App
b) Run Notepad.exe, select the Settings wheel upper right, choose Opening files-Open in a new window, choose When Notepad starts-Open in a new window. - punibabu109Copper Contributor
I second this, I am also facing this issue. (POINT 1)
By "open all versions" it usually means:-
1. open all of the recently edited files.
2. sometimes it opens duplicate instances of the same file, that's why he said versions.
Here is a scenario how this may be replicated:-
1.I open file1
2.then i open file 2 (it opens in a new TAB)
3.then i just close notepad
4.then i open file 3, but hey hey it opens file 3 but also opens file 1/file 2 in the tab next to it.- SIVISAndersCopper ContributorThis can be solved with an option, like in internet browsers:
When closing Notepad
- Remember open files
- Close all open files
If unsaved changes to the open files, prompt you to save changes.
