Edge canary 115.0.1834.0 crashes on opening
My canary version 115.0.1834.0 crashes when opened, everytime. I have windows 10. When i rename the User Data folder to something else, the edge runs perfectly but without my user data ğŸ˜. T...
- May 07, 2023After experimenting with each and every file in the User Data folder, I found the solution.
Here's how-
1. Close the edge
2. Delete this file
"C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge SxS\User Data\Default\Preferences"
You can find the 'Preferences' file in "C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge SxS\User Data\Default\"
And then delete it
3. Start the edge, only some of your settings along with the sign in will only be deleted 😄
4. Be happy

FYI, exact same with Edge Canary v115.0.1834.0 on Windows 11 Pro 25352.1. I had attempted uninstall and reinstall with same results. Renamed user folder and it loads. Have no intention of losing information so renamed back and will await next build.
They really need to separate Submit Feedback into a different process so when issues like this exist, we can report/record what's going on. Edge actually works for a few seconds, so I can paste edge://crashes in the address bar and see them and it says "reported" on older reports so hopefully they are getting some useful data. But it would make far more sense to keep the existing menu option for submit feedback that loads an external software and create a shortcut to launch it if you can't get that far.

- NXTwoThouMay 08, 2023Iron ContributorAwesome that you found a workaround. I'm leaving mine intact so I can test each new Canary version for submitting bug reports until they get the issue resolved. Don't want this bug to hit release.
- rishabhgusainMay 08, 2023Copper ContributorAs in all browser data like history, logins, tabs r good?

Reverted back to standard edge in hopes it'll get resolved someday- NXTwoThouMay 04, 2023Iron Contributorv115.0.1835.0 stays loading longer, but still crashes.

Here's a quicky recording of how long it stays running along with seeing some of the report IDs in case anyone at MS actually looks at these things.  I kept trying to go to About to see the version number but couldn't get it to stay open that long.
