Our engineers are currently investigating the problem regarding Dev/Canary not rendering properly or crashing. A fix has been implemented and it appears to have resolved the issue for some users. However, we understand that there are still individuals encountering this problem. Please follow these steps as a workaround:
- Close all instances of "msedge.exe" by killing the processes.
- Add the following command line argument to the "msedge.exe" executable: "msedge.exe --disable-features=msEnhancedTextContrast".
- Launch the browser again.
- In the address bar, enter "edge://flags/#edge-enhance-text-contrast".
- Select either "default" or "disable".

Jeremiah-V This workaround did not work for my work (primary) profile (@microsoft.com) on Edge Dev 115.0.1880.1, and it is the only profile (out of about 8 or so) that consistently crashes a few seconds after starting. I even tried starting with the --disable-extensions argument when starting, along with the one you suggested, and it did not help. My other profiles are able to continue working just fine (I'm on one of my personal profiles of Edge Dev right now). Any other features I can disable? It was working fine yesterday.
- Jeremiah-VIron ContributorThanks for the update. I'd like to get your crash log over to the reliability team. To send it, enter edge://crashes in the address bar > If you see corresponding crashes listed there, select the Send feedback section on the right > In the description enter "MS Edge Dev V.115.0.1880.1 Crash and send.

Same issue here. build 115.1880.1
The May Windows updates were applied this morning and Edge crashes about 3 seconds after starting. I can get to the crash page and see them all with the logs uploaded but don't have time to hit the send feedback button before the crash occurs.
The startup parameters also did not fix the issue, I can get to the edge://flags/#edge-enhance-text-contrast and see it's set to default but again browser crashes before I have the chance to make any further changes.
In case it helps I have webroot and keeper extensions enabled (among other's) but I would imagine those are the two big issues that could cause a problem.
- AbsoblogginlutelyBrass ContributorFixed with 115.0.1880.3
The browser was still on 1880.1 this morning. I went into c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate and ran MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.exe -update
Repeated for c:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate\1.3.175.27 directory.
Then able to launch the browser successfully.
- Reza_AmeriSilver ContributorDoes it happen as long as you open the Microsoft Edge or when you navigate to websites?
Do you have any extensions in the Microsoft Edge? - andamu1770Copper ContributorThe suggested fix did not work for me. I have a few tabs open in different tab-groups. First page to load is a twitch.tv stream. Extentions in use are Ublock, Bitwarden, privacy badger and Bttv. Loads for 2-3 seconds, then it all freezes and closes without any message. I use this PC daily, so I'm fairly sure its the 115.0.1880.1 update that did it.
