Dotnet 7.x and PowerShell 7.0.1

Hi. I have recently installed .net 7 to use with a certain app. Since then my PowerShell 7.0.1 (last Windows 7 version) closes immediately after opening with a message " failed to create coreclr, hresult: 0x80004005 ".

Is it possible to force PowerShell 7.0.1 to use a different version of dotnet installed on the system? I believe PS 7.0.1 doesn't "like" dotnet 7, even though it is supposed to be backwards compatible.
