Copilot Studio + SharePoint: Markdown (.md) Files in Doc Libraries Supported as Knowledge Sources?
I should mention that adding the SharePoint MCP and Copilot MCP tools seems to allow my agent to find the *.md content, but both of those still show in Preview, and they use a different path for retrieval. The standard SharePoint knowledge source uses GraphSearch as the mechanism. So, it's still a gap, but the SharePoint and Copilot MCPs can used be a workaround.
I tested today to see if this has changed. Disabled the two MCP tools, searched for a specific md file, and it was unable to find it even though it exists in one of the specific knowledge sources. Re-enabled the MCP tools, and it was found. I have a growing library of our patterns and practices that this agent creates and maintains, so it needs to be able to search across all of it as opposed to uploading or attaching a specific file to a conversation.
Would you say that with MCP versus native support for .md file the obvious downside is not having .md files indexed? I was working on internal solution, but it is dependent on having .md as knowledge source, so until it is supported and indexed we are using another agent layer.
